MANCURA TAKES A LEAP FORWARD IN SUSTAINABILITY: ELIMINATES 10% OF HISTORICAL CO2 EMISSIONS WITH CLIMEWORKS

Morandé Wine Group (MWG) has just announced a significant step in its commitment to sustainability by focusing on the active removal of CO₂ as an integral part of its environmental strategy. This commitment reflects MWG’s firm purpose of contributing positively to the fight against climate change and promoting responsible practices in the wine industry. 

In this way, Morandé Wine Group, through Viña Mancura, has signed a strategic agreement with Climeworks, a global leader in carbon capture technologies, to eliminate 10% of historical CO₂ emissions from the air within six years. This collaboration utilizes Climeworks’ innovative technology to directly address the challenge of climate change, highlighting MWG’s proactive vision towards a sustainable future. 

Climeworks is a Swiss company pioneering carbon capture technologies (CCS) that specializes in developing and operating systems that capture carbon dioxide (CO2) directly from the air using special filters that absorb the gas and then concentrate it for safe and permanent geological storage. This process contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change. 

The alliance between Morandé Wine Group, through Mancura, and Climeworks will enable the winery to eliminate 10% of its historical CO₂ emissions, strengthening its commitment to sustainability. This initiative is complemented by the goal of reducing emissions by 5% annually and adopting sustainable practices to achieve a carbon-neutral future. 

This collaboration, a pioneering initiative in the wine industry, aims not only at the active elimination of CO₂ but also at setting a new standard for the industry by integrating innovative technologies and sustainable practices. By leading this avant-garde approach, MWG demonstrates its environmental commitment and its capacity to drive significant change in environmental preservation within the global wine sector.
